Skinny legs

Pinterest

If your legs are skinny like mine, you probably have the same question...what can you wear to avoid your legs looking like toothpicks?

Shopping for skinny legs

First of all, don't try to always wear what's in, find something that flatters you. And most importantly, wear pants and jeans that fit you well. You might have to search a while, but here are some places that actually carry smaller sized clothing.

Tips for thin legs

Here are some tips for ladies with petite/skinny needle/toothpick legs out there:

  • Number One: Find jeans that fit well. Don't try to follow the latest fashion if the style doesn't flatter you. Instead, find a good pair of jeans or trousers that fit well around your waist and bottom area - and make you feel comfortable and pretty!
  • You might want to 'hide' your thin legs by wearing wide pants. Don't wear anything oversized or extremely wide - it overwhelms your small frame, and doesn't flatter your skinny legs
  • Flared jeans can add some curves and make your legs look less thin
  • Try to wear light colors, it will add more visual volume.
  • Avoid extremely dark washed jeans, they don't add any curves visually
  • Instead, opt for jeans that are light washed, or fades at the front. These can add some curves visually
  • create a butt: wear low jeans with wide-set back pockets and back-flaps. Avoid jeans without pockets on the bottom
  • create hips: Wear jeans or trousers that sit low on your hips. Put a belt around your hips to add some bulk. Try 'daughter pockets' on the front.

How i make my legs look bigger !

    Hey PPl….
I went through a bad 3 years because of my weight, i was just SO insecure about my legs ! I still hate them 2day…They are just literally sticks, but im just naturally this way. i see 13 year old girls with bigger legs than I !
but anyway i got depressed about my body, esp my legs so i figured something out how to make them look bigger !
i wear jeans all the time now , i never did before !
I wear leggings under my jeans, no one can tell, invisible !
it adds that bit of extra weight to your legs that will give u a confidence boost !
U can wera short leggings to full length leggings, and just keep putting on how many pairs of leggings to how big you want ur legs to look ! i usually wear 3 to 5 pairs of leggings under my jeans and full length leggings are good for wearing skinny jeans cos they make the whole leg look bigger than calf leggings !
i hope i have helped so girls who are insecure about their legs!
Any questions, email me at terrie_007@hotmail.com !

Go us skinny girls ! xxx

I used two pair of jeans to school! haha i know it sounds silly but my legs really were like chicken legs to the point everyone either thought i was anorexic or being starved at home.

I had my long school t-shirt on with long sleeves (even in summer) and my two pairs of jeans that were covered up by my long school t-shirt.

      It worked :)
But i wish i had of had leggings back then .. would have been way more comfortable.

I really don’t know about skirts! I have the same problem as everyone else. I don’t understand anymore. When i look in the mirror on mirror tells ‘oh its ok’ and the other telss me ‘never’. i think its just my mind playing tricks on me but i really need to know what works and what doesn’t.

    Hello everyone!

I have skinny legs too. As Teresa stated above, leggings do work for wearing under the jeans. I’ve done this before with jeans that I like and want to buy but just don’t fit right, so the leggings give me the extra weight I need to make the jeans wearable. Honestly, the leggings will not work all the time though. Think about it, 3 pairs of leggings during summertime? Ouch. Well anyway, my advice to everyone here is that the best thing to do is tone the whole body. gain some muscle on the legs and tone the rest of it. Having nice arms abs and all will certainly distract people from the small size of the legs. This is what I did, and let me tell you that my skinny legs have stopped being an issue for me. I’ve embraced them and they fit well with the body that I’ve worked hard to keep in shape.
I hope you will find some use in my advice or at least get some ideas.
    Take care and good luck!

I’m in my early 50s now and have suffered my entire life because of stick thin legs and a tiny, flat backside. All through my teenage years, twenties and thirties, I wore only jeans, even in the hottest summer weather and was really depressed by it all. These days, though, I do a lot of walking and exercise and whilst my legs are still thinnish they have good shape now with small but well defined calf muscles. This has given me the confidence in the last few years to wear shorts and skirts. I found out pretty quickly that the best length was on or just above the knee. Any lower and all you can see is a very skinny ankle which makes it worse. Any higher and it just looked bad. Anyway, I wish now that I hadn’t wasted my life hiding myself away. Just get out there and realise that you could have far worse issues to deal with!

I can relate with you on the just above the knee (although i wear short dresses and skirts just to prove a point that you can be skinny and proud).

I used to never be able to show my legs – under any circumstances. Even now if i wear leggings or a long dress my ankles look so tiny that they could snap at any moment and when i wear short dresses or skirts (which i do) my legs at the top look like they can’t carry my very skinny upper body! haha i can’t win!
But i like in Australia and it gets HOT HOT HOT in summer (and in winter sometimes) and you can’t restrict yourself too much.

I have the exact same problem..i always use to wear layers and layers of leggings underneath my jeans..but it gets awkward during summer, when it’s almost hitting the 40 C.. You know how in asia they have the super duper skinning pills..do you think they’ll have fattening pills too? :S is there even such thing?

Hi, I cant wear knee high skirts because not only do I have skinny legs but knobby knees. I have to wear long skirts and have made capris my friend for summers now. I also wear the heavier hiking tpye sandle and look more outdoorsy to take away from my skinny ankles.

I find that now that i am a mother, I dont worry too much about my legs in the summer anymore, but when i go out, long skirts is my choice.

Your legs probably look great. I have extra fat legs and my knee highs only come up half way. It would be a pretty dull world if we all looked the same. I wear capris in the summer to cover up also and I to have knobby knees. We all have issues so show those knobby knees girl and I’ll wear my sock half way. LOL. Post a picture of your knobby knees you might realize your legs don’t really look like whats in your head.

aww hey guys. so one major issue for a tean with thin legs and knobby knees are those short shorts you wanna get into because you think they are the coolest thing. i sometimes think i can pull them off but my top is very ‘heavy’. not fat but i have very broad shoulders, thick arm muscles, tiney little wrists, and huge hands. i am all off balance so when i put on those short shorts my top looks HUGE. the only time i feel good about myself is when i am in the pool because the swuim suit makes my body look more even.

    heyy everyone,
i am 15 at the moment, and have always been self concious about my legs! i actually suffered a mild depression from it, because i felt left out, and different compared too the other girls. They can pretty much pull every clothes item off and wear it well! but then when i try something from the shop, i have too be careful with what i wear! i always used too wear baggy trackie pants in winter, i never even tried to wear jeans, because i always felt self concious about my legs.

And i always used too compare myself too the other girls! “some girls have skinny legs, some girls have large legs” and there is pretty much nothing we can all do about it. we just have too except ourselfs for who we are, and be thankful fo having beautiful skinny, model type legs! some girls out there would kill for our skinny but gorgeous legs! i have too where stockings for school with a skirt in winter. so all i do is just put a few layers of “thick” stockings on my legs and so then it gives a bit of shape around the calf muscle. because that’s where i have trouble with my skinny ness!

How about being top heavy with skinny legs…not a good look at all. I envy women who wear shorts, dresses and especially the cute booties that are in now. My legs look like sticks in a cup. Darn genetics. My mom says embrace it and don’t care what the world says. I’m really trying but it’s difficult.

Slender legs are just like small breasts to me. I love them. Don’t try to hide, girls. If your friends make fun of you, you have nothing to be ashamed about but picking lousy friends. Wear shorts, short skirts, heels, whatever you feel like, and there will be guys out there that like your legs. Trust me on that.

      Posted July 14, 2011 at 7:31 am | Permalink

Lester, you said it man. Small legs and small breasts have ALWAYS been the thing for me. I’ve dated women of all shapes, sizes, and colors. The odd thing about women is that they never seem happy. Women with curves always want to be thinner. Women who are thin always want the curves. And both say the same thing. LOOK AT THE WOMEN ON TV.

      RUBBISH!

Look at the woman in the mirror. That is the ONLY person you need to make happy. Flat-chested women can get away with the deep plunge and going braless and look SPECTACULAR. Runways the world over are full of A-cup women.. Women with thin legs…. do you not see that the million dollar models are STARVING themselves to get what you have naturally? Women with hips curse because they can’t get their pants over their hips, or if they can, they gap horribly in the waist. Thin women want to “fill out” their pants more . Stop worrying.

Ask most men if they’d rather date a woman they felt was too thin or too heavy, and most will say too thin every time. The smaller you are, the more sexy you can dress. Carry yourself like a model, and guys will SWOON.

Wow. I’ve heard the complete opposite that curves are absolute winners and thin are losers.

I hate my small bust and thin legs. I get told every time that being thin is not good for me. I eat more to help fill in the gaps so I can fit in my pants more nicely. Baggy pants look horrible.

You got it, my friend. I was engaged to be married to a woman that was 5’7″, 103 pounds, and as far as her body was concerned, I was in heaven. I loved every inch of her. The first time we ever did our laundry together, I went to turn a pair of her jeans right side out, and I couldn’t even fit my arm in the leg. Size “OO” I never had to fight off so many guys to keep my woman. Everyone wanted her. She has since passed away, may she rest in peace. But girls, she was very thin, and very beautiful. She could dress hot and go anywhere. Please, please, please, be proud of yourself and happy with yourself.

P.S. Her passing was unrelated to her thinness.

i know it’s difficult to embrace your legs and feelings on what others think. but the good news is that there are certain amounts of things that you can work on to adjust or build the size of your legs, in a long distance of time. for example: eat healthy!! that is the most important thing to work on. your muscles will then be getting all the neutrients they need and provide. other things you may work on is: doing daily excercises to improve on your leg muscles. hope this helps!! cheers, dr lisa

Ann, I don’t know where you are from, but let me tell you something. I am a photographer and work with models every month. And I can ASSURE you that in the “beauty business”, thin wins every time. Most of the women I see for portfolio work are 32b or smaller. I’ve had two this month at 32A, and one of those was struggling to fill that A cup. Everyone who saw her photos had their jaw dropping. She was so proud, she even entered a bikini contest this weekend! And I was there to shoot that too.

Do not hate you small bust. Embrace it. Seriously. It’s not your lack of bust that guys find unattractive. It’s the lack of confidence. I went to see my next model tonight. She is a bodypaint dancer. Another “A” cup girl who dances on stage in nothing but body paint and a thong. Guys were cheering her all night, and one came up and tipped her at the end of the night. EXTREME confidence, and hella sexy! I’ll take a confident, absolute flat-chested girl on as a model EVERY TIME, over a curvy but shy one. Shy doesn’t make it in this business. Confident does at any size.

The trick here is to find clothes that work for you. Obviously, baggy pants will look bad. They do on anyone. You can get away with close fitting summer dresses, jean skirts, etc. All the stuff the curvy girls WISH they could wear, but can’t get over their hips or boobs.

The small girl I shot last weekend is now BLOWING UP on Facebook. People friending her left and right. Photographers wanting to work with her. Stores wanting her to model. Thin girls, make the most of what you have. Stop hiding, stop self-hating. You are BEAUTIFUL! Let the world see it.

That’s just models not the average looking woman with a small bust and thin legs. Models are pretty and beautiful compared to average girls and that’s how they can exude such confidence. Curvy ladies are not all shy. All of them have confidence because they know the guys out there prefer their assets to small bust and thin girls. My friend is a bit on the big boob side and she knows they do. It gets annoying.

      Oh and I’m from Australia.

Ann, you have the wrong idea. These are simply girls off the street who I have identified and am helping to learn to model. These are not pro models by any stretch of the imagination.

I get the feeling though, that many of the women at this site will simply never get beyond their body issues and that is sad to me. Is it really so hard to believe that not all men in the world like just one shape of woman? Do you ladies not see the MANY men who do crazy over gymnasts, track runners, and all manner of athletic women? Yes, pro models are prett, but many are very flat. And it doesn’t stop those women from dating nearly any man they want.

I’ve said it before, and I will say it again. It’s not your boobs, it’s your attitude.

Well I did a photo shoot for a newspaper to help out my friend whose dad needed some girls for an issue. i was really insecure and when i sat there with my (short) dress which was tight fitted, his wife who’s his assistant said out loud in a derogative tone: “omg! another one with so skinny legs!!”
skinny models on pictures may look nice BUT in real life when walking next to “normal sized legs” people stare at you and whisper and look at your skinny body.. how can anyone be jealous of me? and i’m not talking about a flat chest or flat bum, I’m overall skinny skinny skinny and short clothing just doesn’t look good on me.. :( you have no idea how it is to be always concious about your skinniness and people judging you bcuz of it… i guess i have to build up my confidence..

  19. Posted July 19, 2011 at 9:30 pm | Permalink

Hey girls, PF is right. I’m a photographer too, and let me tell you, when a girl isn’t thin, we’re using every trick in the book to hide things in the photos. A roll here, a little extra there. With the thin girls, we just light them, pose them, and they do the rest, just by being beautiful. Nothing to hide, it all looks great.

Be proud of who you are, and I mean that for the girls that aren’t thin, too. You are who you are, and personally, I love you all. Dress how you want to, and to hell with anyone rude enough to make any kind of disparaging comments. Just consider the source. A rude person. Then go on with YOUR life, leaving them behind.

i think alot of the advice above about just above the knee and thick fabric dresses is right also a bubble dress can add volume however i disagree with the whole love your thin legs and just go out and show them off i do part time lingerie waitressing and if there is girls working with me who have fuller legs i go home guys keep being mean and asking me do u eat? trust me i eat fat food i just dont gain weight in the legs at all but cant be bothered explaining this to every person. sometimes me and my bf used to go to a club and other girls would say gross look how skinny she is or guys yell it out and even on facebook i dont look skinny in pics but when girls or guys meet me in real life they are like wow your too skinny u need more meat on you and you would be perfect they think its a compliment but i hate it because i will never have more meat on me no matter what i do and i walk everyday because i lost my license and i still have stick legs and gym just made me lose weight nothing helps and i cant even shop for a dress on ebay because when i get it the fabric is usually to thin or makes me look nearly invisable when i stand to the side. i hate my body because of people always saying wow your so skinny do u eat and so on if people could fk off than i could finally wear whatever i want i personally at home do wear short shorts but cant outside.

Yeah, that “go out and show your skinniness off” is easier said than done!! People will whisper when you walk by and I got particularly keen eared of that! I can’t wear a short dress or shorts.. even in jeans my legs look like sticks!! it just doesn’t look good if I wear a skirt or shorts… i don’t like how it looks either… If I just were a bit fuller in body size overall I would have a completely other fashion style!! seriously, I would only wear skirts and shorts and tight trousers :) i wonder why so little women wear skirts around me.. i always think “you have great looking legs, they are perfect, why don’t you show them??”

I always get told how skinny I am, and i know it. I want to be able to fit into those short tight shorts in the summer time, but my legs never fill them out. I like to wear PINK yoga pants in the winter, but they are barley tight. I hate everything sagging on me. I havent always been this skinny. I also dont like the way my arms look like toothpicks in normal tee shirts. What do i wear? What do I do? Will I stay this skinny for the rest of my life?

I have very skinny legs too . When i was young and even into my 30`s i didnt even think about it and liked my body and wore short dresses and shorts. But the older i got the more and more people started calling me skinny and assuming i was on a diet because i was slim, People made me become very self consious about my body. A lot of people out there just cant seem to accept that there are naturally thin women in the world . People dont seem to realise that is is just as offensive to call people skinny as it is to call someone fat. I used to see red when complete strangers would comment on how skinny i was, if i were to remark how fat they were they would find me extremely rude and hurtful. A lot of it is down to ignorance and jealousy. i too live the majority of my time in jeans and trousers now but would love to wear skirts and dresses again. I have made a promise to myself that this summer i am going to wear all the lovely skirts and dresses that i have bought but havnt yet had the confidence to wear. Its about time us lovely slender ladies were given a break.

I was very thin when I was younger but put on weight as I got older. I am now 44 years old. The problem is, I’m losing rapid weight in my butt (which used to be full and curvy), hips and legs. My knees are even knobby now. I hate it and the worst part is that by belly remains huge-how ugly. It makes me so depressed! I’m losing weight in the most unattractive way for a women-kind of how old people or sick people lose weight.I don’t know if it’s stress or a possible side affect from my thyroid medicine. I have hypothyroidism. All I know is that I wish I could get some answers-HELP!!!
