Something magical happened last week. I rediscovered eBay.
I must confess, I haven't been a big fan of eBay. Besides from using its sister site half.ebay.com to buy books for school (BIG money saver!), I haven't done a lot of clothing shopping on the site. Even though I spend half of my day on the internet, I'm not a big web shopper (shocking, I know). I usually prefer to try things on before I buy them -- but that has changed!
Petite clothing that is NOT expensive, please!
I have had the hardest time finding cute well-fitting small nursing tops. Holding a crying baby in public while struggling to keep a stupid cover over his head is already hard enough -- the last thing you want is a top that gets in the way with a strap that just won't come loose! So, a couple of weeks ago, my hunt for nice small breastfeeding tops began. I started in 'regular' stores, but quickly found that:
a. most nursing tops were WAY too big, and
b. why the hell are they so expensive?!
I'm not planning on breastfeeding forever (God no...), so I don't want to spend $30 0r $50 on a simple shirt I'm only going to wear a few months.
So, I went to a place I always go when I'm looking for answers: Google.
Cute petite clothing? Try eBay!
There are a ton of nice nursing clothing sites out there, but they all have one thing in common: they're super expensive. Like I said before, I'm trying to avoid spending half Liam's college fund on clothes I'm only going to wear a few months, so I had to go somewhere else.
I ended up on eBay.
And what a wonderful rediscover it was. I went to the fashion section, women's clothing, clicked on maternity, nursing, and tops and selected 'petites' and 'juniors' (yes, I confess). eBay now has a very nice visual way of presenting clothing sections, and since I am a very visual person - I love the system.
It lets you select anything you can think of: what kind of style top you're looking for (blouse? Halter? Kimono sleeve?), the color you're interested in, brand, material, and price of course. If you're like me, and you don't have the patience to bid and wait on every item you're interested in, you can also select the 'buy it now' option - and only browse items you can buy immediately.
Besides from finding some great breastfeeding tops, I immediately got hooked - and I am already browsing for some new additions to my already stuffed closet. It's a great way to find small sized clothing that won't break your wallet. Thank you, eBay!
Do you have (good? bad?) experience with eBay? Or do you know of other good sites to find inexpensive, but trendy, petite clothing? Leave a comment!
